5 Nights, 6 Days: Assam & Meghalaya — Where Clouds Touch the Earth

 

Land in Guwahati and head straight into the wild — Kaziranga National Park, where dawn breaks over grasslands thick with one-horned rhinoceros. Ride out first by elephant, then by jeep, as the park's dense population of tigers, wild buffalo, and over 500 bird species stir awake around you.

 

From there, climb into Meghalaya's cooler heights — Shillong, the "Scotland of the East," draped in pine and mist. Wake early for Cherrapunji, the wettest place on Earth, where waterfalls like Nohkalikai and the Seven Sisters spill straight off cliff edges. Walk to Mawlynnong, Asia's cleanest village, home to a living root bridge grown over generations, then drift the Umngot River at Dawki — water so clear your boat seems to float on glass.

Return to Guwahati for a final evening cruise on the Brahmaputra, the river catching the last light before you head home.

On Arrival meet your guide/Driver at the pickup point and move towards to Kaziranga National Park, renowned as the home of the One-Horn Indian Rhinoceros. Enroute enjoy a relaxed half-day escape to Amchong Tea Estate (Optional), located about a 30-minute drive from Guwahati. Entry is complimentary, allowing guests to stroll through the lush Assam tea plantations and capture memorable photographs amid scenic surroundings. The estate features a restaurant overlooking the tea gardens, ideal for a leisurely meal with views. An ideal day excursion combining nature, culture, and authentic Assam tea experiences. After checking in at your chosen accommodation, whether it be a hotel, lodge, or resort, you have the option to visit Orchid Park and explore the nearby Tea Plantations. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at Kaziranga National Park.

After breakfast we'll set out on a thrilling jeep safari, immersing ourselves further in the wilderness. After that we'll return to the hotel and transfer to Shillong, overnight stay. Sightseeing: Jeep Safari

Rise early today to savor the enchanting mornings of Shillong. Following an early breakfast, embark on a journey to Cherrapunji, renowned as the wettest place on Earth. Explore various attractions including the Garden of Caves, Eco Park (closed on Wednesdays), Dainthlen Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Nohsngithiang Falls (Seven Sisters Falls), Mawsmai Cave, and Thangkharang Park (closed on Wednesdays). After all the sightseeing transfer to Shillong for overnight stay. 

Following breakfast, we'll start our journey to Mawlynnong Village (closed on Sundays), renowned as the cleanest village in India. This delightful and vibrant village, located 90 kilometers from Shillong, is celebrated for its cleanliness. Besides its cleanliness, Mawlynnong offers various attractions such as the Living Root Bridge (closed on Sundays) and another intriguing natural phenomenon where a boulder balances on another rock. Next, we'll visit Dawki, situated along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Here, you can delight in boating amidst the crystal-clear waters of the Umgnot River. In the evening, we'll return to Shillong for an overnight stay, where you can unwind and relish the serene atmosphere.

After breakfast, we'll proceed to Guwahati. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Later, we'll visit the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, showcasing Assamese history and culture, and the Assam Film Museum to delve into the history of Assamese cinema. We'll then head to the GTAC Tea Lounge to savor the finest Assam Tea varieties. Next, we'll explore the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Center and the newly opened Park at Brahmaputra Riverfront. In the evening, you can opt for a River Cruise (direct payment) on the mighty River Brahmaputra or explore the local market. Guwahati is renowned for its Assam Silk, particularly Golden Muga Silk, Assam Tea, and Bamboo and Cane Products. Overnight stay in Guwahati.

After breakfast, we'll check out from the hotel. If time permits, we can embark on a tour of the Kamakhya Temple and other temples in Guwahati, including the Purva Tirupati Shri Balaji Temple, Sukreswar Temple, Navagraha Temple, Umananda Temple on Peacock Island, which is the smallest inhabited river island in the world. Additionally, we can explore the Assam State Museum, Dighali Pukhuri (Lake), State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, Planetarium, and the Assam State Emporiums. With cherished memories, we'll proceed to Guwahati airport/railway station for our onward journey.

  • 30 - 21 Days before Tour Start Date - 75% refund.
  • 21-14 Days before Tour Start Date - 50% refund.
  • 14- 7 Days before Tour Start Date - 25% refund.
  • Within 7 days before Tour Start Date - No Refund. 

Please note: We charge 5% of the total amount of booking as our service fee in case of any cancellation over and above the above cancellation charges.

Child Policy

 

Child below 5 yrs complimentary Child 5 -12 yrs with or without extra bed rates as per hotel policy Child above 12 Years is considered as adult.

 

Notes on Transportation Used in Our Package. 

 

Vehicles used are exclusively at the disposal of the guest for the entire tour for 12 Hours every day .There is no change in the vehicle during the entire tour. Our drivers are very well trained with the entire region and would ensure that they take the guest to all the places mentioned in the itinerary .Maximum guests allowed in Innova is 6 including children above 4 years. If the no. of guest is more than 6 then they will have to take 1 more vehicle at an extra cost. If there are 5 or more guests then they are advised to travel with very minimum baggage in case if the number of baggage is more than normal then the guest will have to take 1 more vehicle at an extra cost. In case the Guest is travelling with extra Bags they may have to take a extra car for the same at additional cost payable on spot.

 

Notes on Tempo Travellers

Tempo Travellers which are available in North East are not modified and are basic A/C vehicles that come directly from the dealer. It is noted that these vehicles may not be as well-equipped with Maharaja Seats, Individual AC, Arm Rest Etc as those found in other states like Rajasthan, Delhi, Kerala, etc. The A/c of the vehicle will not work on hills further the Ac are not as effective as a Sedan or Toyota Vehicle. Additionally, the average age of the vehicles is between 3 to 5 years, and they do not have roof carriers.In terms of luggage, due to space constraints, only one piece of luggage per person is allowed. If a guest is traveling with additional luggage, they may need to arrange for an extra vehicle on the spot at an additional cost. It’s important to highlight that once the tour begins, the vehicle will not be replaced for any reason.

 

Important Information about the Package

We allot exclusive tour coordinator for the entire tour. The Guest may contact him / her over phone at any time in case of any emergency, changes in itinerary or any inconvenience which may have happened on account of hotels or transportation in case the guest requires a tour guide please let us know in advance. The same can be arranged at an extra cost Package can be extended on Pro-Rata basis All our packages are inclusive of Breakfast There will be no refund for any unutilized services.

 

For Guests travelling to Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park has 4 different ranges for safari. They are the Central or the Kohora Range, Western or the Bagori range, Eastern or the Agratoli range and the Burapahar or Ghorakati range. We provide 1 Elephant Safari and 1 Jeep Safari in all our packages. However, if the guest wishes to explore the other ranges also then the same can be arranged at an extra cost. Timings for Elephant Safari are mornings 5.15 AM to 6.15 AM and 6.15 AM to 7.15 AM. Timings for Jeep Safari are mornings 7.30 AM to 9.30 AM. Afternoon 2 PM to 4 PM.
